Come with Team RMK to Valley Falls State Park in beautiful Fairmont West Virginia and prepare to enter the vertical world of whitewater boating. With four distinct drops we will work on the technique that will allow you to safely handle waterfalls. From boofing, hazard indentification, running slides, setting up the drop and setting safety you will come away from this class with invaluable knowledge which will help you better enjoy your waterfall running opportunities.

Let Rocky Mountain ACA-certified kayak instructors, Matt Fithian and Jason Rigby, educate and guide you through a life-changing experience. Epic Prep is now offering clinics for all skill levels* at Valley Falls, tucked away in the beautiful West Virginia mountains. Aside from a great view and some serious fun in the sun, this is the safest waterfall experience you will ever encounter.

Learn the fundamentals of swift water rescue, scouting waterfalls for safe lines on your descent and perfecting your boof stroke all while descending over crisp, clear West Virginia waterfalls. We'll work on advanced moves like boof strokes, boof to stomp technique for running falls, slides, rescue scenerios, advanced lines on all the falls, and freestyle off the falls for those so inclined. Will also work on the class V rapids downstream Hamburger Helper and Twist and Shout. Boats will be available for demo for all clinic participants from Wavesport, Dagger, Pyranha, & Fluid.

OHIOPYLE FALLS DAY PREP CLASS

The big Falls Race Festival at Ohiopyle is right around the corner! Epic Prep is hosting a clinic day at Valley Falls, WV the week before the Ohiopyle Festival for those wanting to brush up their skills. Boat demos are also available.

About The Falls Race:

The eleventh annual American Whitewater Ohiopyle Over-The-Falls Festival will be held August 21, 2010. Whitewater paddlers nationwide will gather there to race over the spectacular eighteen-foot waterfall in the picturesque mountain village of Ohiopyle. Spectators are invited to watch paddlers sprint and cartwheel, end-over-end, off the waterfall.

Other event features include the Falls Under Lights, Town Party, Live Music (Halftime String Band), Silent Auction and food booths. The area also offers biking, hiking, camping, magnificent scenery, photographic opportunities, history and cultural activities.

Gauley Season

For six weekends each fall the Army Corp of Engineers brings life to the 29 miles of Gauley whitewater. Follow our experienced guides down this infamous river while working on your big water skills and playboating for those interested. We offer trips for both the upper and lower sections as well as an overnight trip for those that want to experience life on the river.

Moose Fest

Follow accomplished Team RMK paddler and Head Instructor Matt Fithian to upstate New York for the annual Moose River Festival. Dam releases on the demanding sections of the Moose give both the intermediate and advanced creekers the opportunity to hone their skills on some of the most challenging water in the North East. And on the way up take playboating the infamous hole brothers on the Black River in Watertown provides a great warmup to a weekend of running the steeps. Must have a solid whitewater roll to participate on this trip.

Custom Trips

Get a group of your friends together and let us do the leg work. We will cater a trip to your groups skill level and allow you to paddle with confidence with experienced guides ready to help you take your skills to a higher plateau. From class 2 – 5 we will pick rivers based on the groups overall ability. We can plan an exciting vacation which will allow you to enjoy the thrills of paddling without the hassles of figuring out complicated shuttle routes, taking the guess work out of new rivers, and providing a confidence inspiring guided excursion. We’ll do the cooking, set up the logistics, provide the extra vehicle for shuttle, and find the best water for the time you choose. Simply give us your groups ability level, accommodation choices , food preferences and paddling region and we will provide you with a quote within 48 hours.

All trips will be catered to those participants signed up. We will either camp or stay at local B&B’s or hotels depending upon the lodging options the group selects. Minimum group size for any trip is 3. With an instructor to student ratio of 4:1. Prices will vary based upon accommodations, and menu type selected. Our guides are prepared to offer a fully catered paddling vacation and will cook meals and prepare lunches daily for on the river. Please indicate food preferences and allergies prior to trip.
